"The Mind Behind the Coup Of Colon"
Hi! I’m QQ, the artist, writer, director, and voice behind Coup of Colon. I created this project as part of my senior thesis, combining my background in biology with storytelling and motion design to turn complex medical concepts into engaging, metaphorical narratives.
As a former medical student turned creative, this animation is deeply personal—it reflects not just the inner workings of the human body, but also the external struggles of society. Coup of Colon isn’t just about cancer; it’s about awakening, resistance, and survival. Through this work, I wanted to explore how cells, much like people, can ignore warning signs until it’s too late… but still find strength to fight back.
This piece blends science, dark humor, and political metaphor, created to connect with young audiences who’ve faced their own share of conflict, pressure, or displacement.

What I worked on
Creative Director
I came up with the weird idea of turning colon cancer into a political metaphor—and somehow made it make sense
Screenwriter
I wrote the script, voiced the chaos, and tried not to cringe at hearing my own voice (too much).
Animator and Visual Designer
I drew, designed, and animated all the little cell folks—yes, even the dramatic villain ones.
